If this is your first family trip to Silver Lake (Srebrno jezero), here is the good news: few destinations in Serbia make family logistics this simple. Everything kids need — water, slides, ice cream and room to run — sits within a few hundred metres, with no traffic in between. We wrote this guide as hosts whose guests are most often families.

The Aqua Park — the main attraction for kids

The Aqua Park is the centre of a child's world at the lake: paddling pools for the youngest, slides for older kids, sun loungers and shade for parents. It runs through the summer season and is at its best in the morning before the crowds. See our Aqua Park guide for details.

The tip our guests value most: stay as close to the park as possible. With small children every break — a snack, a change of clothes, an afternoon nap — means going “home” and coming back. When the apartment is 20 metres from the gate, that is a five-minute round trip; from the other end of the resort, it is an expedition.

The beach and swimming

The main beach is sandy with a gradual entry into the water — unlike most rivers and lakes, children can wade in the shallows for a long time here. Lifeguards are on duty in season, and there are showers, cabins and shade along the shore. The lake is actually a calm branch of the Danube, with no waves or currents. More in our guide to the beach and promenade.

The promenade, the fountain and evenings

In the evening, family life moves to the promenade: bikes and scooters with no cars to worry about, the fountain, pancake and ice-cream stands, playgrounds. For kids this is often the favourite part of the day — and for parents the easiest one.

What if it rains?

A fair question for any family plan. Options: cafés and pastry shops on the promenade, a drive to Veliko Gradište (3 km), or a half-day trip — Golubac Fortress and Tumane Monastery work on a cloudy day too. And if you stay in: our apartment has a PlayStation, Netflix and fast internet — a rainy afternoon flies by.

Practical notes for parents

  • A minimarket and bakery are ~300 m from the centre — nappies, milk and snacks without driving.
  • The pharmacy and health centre are in Veliko Gradište, a 5-minute drive.
  • Lakeside restaurants are used to children — high chairs and kids' portions are no problem.
  • Ask for a baby cot in advance — in our apartment it is available on request.

Where to stay with kids

For a family, an apartment in the centre is the practical choice: your own kitchen (baby porridge at 7 am is no problem), a washing machine (swimsuits washed every evening) and a location where everything is walkable. Silver Lake Residence sleeps up to 4 and was set up exactly for this kind of holiday — check available dates.

Frequently asked questions

What age group is Silver Lake best for?

Almost any: the shallow beach and the Aqua Park kiddie pools cover toddlers, the slides and promenade suit school kids, and teenagers get pedal boats, sports courts and day trips. Kids aged 3–12 get the most out of it effortlessly.

Is a baby cot available in the apartment?

At Silver Lake Residence a cot is available on request — just mention it when booking. The apartment also has a washing machine, a full kitchen and air conditioning, which matter more with a baby than any star rating.

What to do with kids when it rains?

Cafés and pastry shops on the promenade, a short drive to Veliko Gradište, or a half-day trip to Golubac Fortress or Tumane Monastery. In the apartment: PlayStation, Netflix and fast internet — a rainy afternoon is no disaster.
